Geography: Fort Lauderdale Fl. is even recognized as the "Venice of America" due to the presence of an expansive canal system, within the Broward County in Florid within the United States. History: The Tequesta Indians were the earlier occupant of the region but was soon replaced by the Seminole Indians, who settled in the region during the 18th and 19th century. It was in 1820, the province witnessed the American residents within the region. Major William Lauderdale along with his Tennessee volunteers laid the foundation of a new fort along the New River, which is presently called as Fort Lauderdale where the 9th Avenue unites with the SW 4th Court. It was said that after Major Lauderdale left the region, the area derived its name from it. Seminoles seems to have ruined the fort but soon two more forts were built along the ocean. Soon it was integrated as a town in the year 1911 and was soon referred to as Fort Lauderdale that experienced incredible expansion after the World War II.
