Geography: Fort Myers is a very important city in Florida. It is located in Lee County. It is considered as the entrance to the Southwestern portion of Florida. Fort Myers is situated in the gulf coastal region of Florida. The Caloosahatchee River flows by the side of this city. Coastal regions cover a considerable portion of the city. The climate is subtropical. Heavy downpour and storms like Hurricane etc are seen sometimes.
History: The City Fort Myers Fl was established on 24th March in the year 1886. Manuel Gonzalez resided in this city in the prehistoric era. He was an immigrant of the Cuban native. In the year 1821 Florida came under the rule of United States. Edison was the person who came into this territory and made his home, which is known as Seminole Lodge. It was beside the river Caloosahatchee. The city was developed after the Seminole Indian Wars. The city got its name from Colonel Abraham C. Myers.

Fort Myers is home to the two very important universities namely Nova Southeastern University and Florida Gulf Coast University. Then there are also some very popular colleges for higher studies such as Edison College, Southwest Florida College, International College, Southwest Florida College and so on. Students generally go for higher studies here and the infrastructure is also very good. Besides that there are around 60 public schools.
