Among the numerous tourist attractions in Elmina, one of the most visited ones is the old Dutch Cemetery, Elmina. The Dutch Cemetery, Elmina was constructed way back in the year 1806. This automatically resulted in space crunch. Finally, in the year 1806 it was decided that the European cemetery would be better off if moved into the Garden of Elmina.

Besides, there are a number of silk cotton trees that surround the Dutch Cemetery, Elmina. The trees have been standing witness for more than hundred years. In the center of Dutch Cemetery, Elmina, there is a vault that stands with an obelisk on top. This was also built in the year 1806. Nana Kobena Isyan, the Elmina King has been buried at the Dutch Cemetery in Elmina, Many of the eminent personalities of Elmina and the former governors of the land are rested here in peace.
