History
The history of Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana is very interesting. There were two parts of the city which grew around the forts builts by the Dutch and English in the 17th Century. The first, Sekondi was older and larger than the second one. It prospered to a great extent when in 1903 a railroad was constructed in that hinterland of timber and mineral resources. In the second part of the city, a deepwater harbor was built in Takoradi in the year 1928. These two parts were joined in 1946.
