The coastal region of this place has two rainy seasons, one peaking in the month of May or June and the other in October On the other hand the northern region only has one rainy season which starts from May or June
The uneven distribution of rainfall is a unique feature of the Weather in Ghana. The rainfall is very low on the coastal side than it is on the short distance lands.
During heavy rain on the western side the offshore waters are unusually very cool and a cool current is felt on the ocean surface.The coast of this place follows a direction from west-southwest to east-northeast and its direction is parallel with the prevailing winds.
The northern part of Ghana has an increasing tendency for a single rainy season.The annual rainfall of this region is very lower as that is found in northern Nigeria.
Due to lower rainfall and less cloud, many regions of Ghana is comparatively much hotter than other coastal areas. Average duration of sunshine is about five hours during the rainy season and about seven to eight hours during drier months.
The duration of sunshine gets reduced as one approaches the wetter districts but increases in the drier regions.
