Geography: To talk about the geographical situation of Gold Coast, it is located in the eastern region of Australia in the Queensland state. City of Brisbane is located very close to Gold Coast. The area is greatly covered with hills, rock lands, valleys, uplands and lowlands. Coastal regions also cover a considerable part of the city. The highest altitude of the area rises more than 1000 meters above the sea level. December, January and February are the summer months and on the other hand June, July and August are the winter months.
History: In the past, Gold Coast was known for its plentiful wood supply for the purpose of making boomerangs. That is why it was earlier called by the name Kurrungul. Kom-bumerris was the first tribe to inhabit the area. In the year 1770, Captain Cook stepped in this coast. Then he pointed out two specific regions of Gold Coast, i.e. Point Danger and Mount Warning.

Economy: Gold Coast is an economically stable city in Australia. Some of the fast growing industries in gold Coast are rum industry, Oyster farming, fishing industry and so on. The service sector is much developed and unemployment is not a problem here. Gold Coast is also the most beautiful region of Australia and that is why it has gradually become a famous tourist spot. Traveling in Gold Coast – From the Coolangatta Airport frequent domestic flights are available between various places. Educational Institutions: Gold Cost is an important educational center in Australia. There are three universities here. These are Bond University, Griffith University and Central Queensland University. Technical and Further Education (TAFE in short) is an institution for higher studies in Australia. It has its campuses spread in the places like Southport, Benowa, Ridgeway and Coolangatta. Several schools are also there. Some of these are private and some are public.
