History of Paros: Paros is a very old place and is inhabited since 4000 BC. The place started growing and developing around 3000 BC and it is from this time the place became known for its marble deposits. At that time the place was known to be Minoa. The earliest people who lived in this place were the tribes who belong to the Peloponnese. These people started mixing with the lonians and became a strong force to reckon with in this region. These people started trading marble with the people of Phoenicia and became a formidable power in the 6th century B.C in the Aegean Sea region.During the time of the Greek revolution in the year 1821, Paros participated in a war against the Turks and was soon freed.

Sightseeing in Paros: Among the places which are worth watching in Paros are the capital Parikia famous for its museum with different types of findings. Tourists can also enjoy the beautiful monastery of Ag Anargyrous which is situated just outside the town.The park of Parikia houses one of the earliest Churches in Greece built by St Helen around 300 AD. At Marathi the visitors can visit the caves which are two in number and just at the entrance contain a sculpture.Besides the above places, the tourists can also visit Dilio, famous for the ancient temple of Apollo, and Naoussa which attracts the tourists for its monastery and the citadel built in the 15th century
