Diving in Athens

Diving in Athens happens to be one of the most favorite sports in Athens of the Athenians as well as the tourists in the historic capital of Greece. Athens boasts of some seventy-five miles of shoreline from where vigorous and exciting diving in Athens may be executed. Tourists and locals love to plunge into the marine waters that encompass Athens to get a glimpse of the ships that capsized in recent periods.

There are several diving clubs in Athens that train amateurs to become expert divers. The instructors of these clubs teach their pupils how to dive; the portions of the beach from which they can dive; the portions of the Athenian shoreline that they must avoid because if they dive from such zones, they might experience injuries and hazards while submerged; the diving gear that they must wear and carry; etc. There are many spots suitable for diving on the shores of the Aegean Sea. The tourists practice diving feats from these exclusive points so that they can master the art of diving.

The sea waters bear a temperature of roughly twelve degree centigrade in the wintry season. The temperature of the salt waters plummets to nine degree centigrade during the month of May when many divers find the waters to be unbearable. The average temperature of the sea waters is in the order of twenty-three degrees during most months of the year.

The waters that touch the coast of Athens are in general peaceful with breakers occurring only in the region of Chalkida. Hence, you must never attempt diving in Athens from Chalkida. Diving in Athens is not as fruitful as diving from the islets around Athens. This is because once you are submerged after jumping from the shores of Athens, you will hardly be able to see for seventeen meters within the dark waters. If violent storms have occurred, you will not be able to see more than ten meters when you are submerged. Exciting and bone-chilling, diving in Athens will enable you to reach new heights of thrills in the oceanic depths of the marine waters that surround Athens.
