History of the First World War has it that the Austro-Hungarian attack of the 6th October 1915 led to the collapse of the Serbian Front. The remnants of the Serbian Army of around 150,000 soldiers together with their government in exile, found refuge and shelter in Corfu. The exhibits at the Serbian War Museum in Corfu Island include photographs from the three years stay of the Serbians in Corfu. Apart from the photographs, the items on display include uniforms, arms and ammunition of the Serbian army, Serbian regimental flags, religious artifacts, war medals and other decorations of the Kingdom of Serbia. The collections also feature surgical tools used in medical treatment by the Serbian doctors on Vido Island in 1916.
