The Agia Triada Monastery, Crete is one of the finest Tourist Attractions in Crete. It was built in the seventeenth century by two brothers of the Venetian Zangaroli family. These people were monks who had converted to the Orthodox faith. The Agia Triada Monastery, Crete was built on top of a preexisting church, a church of Byzantine cruciform architecture with three domes.

The main church in the Agia Triada Monastery of Crete is dedicated to the Agia Triada. The two side chapels were dedicated to Agios Ioannis Prodromos. These churches depict the heavy decorative Western-style influence in the establishment of the Agia Triada Monastery. The facade of the church has double columns of Ionic and Corinthian style and an inscription. You will also find a large bell tower at the top of it. There are two inscriptions at the entrance of the church, one in Latin and the other in Greek. These inscriptions represent the background of the founding fathers of the Agia Triada Monastery, Crete.

The Agia Triada Monastery, Crete was a significant theological school in the nineteenth century. It was built in the year 1612 by the monks Laurentius and Jeremiah who were members of the Venetian orthodox family of Jagarolon. The Agia Triada Monastery, Crete was burned down by the Turks during the 1821 revolution. Later, it was renovated and brought to its present form by monks named Calliopios and Gregorios.
