The price of constructing the building which houses the museum was given by the Ministry of Education in partnership with the Archaeological Society of Athens. There is also the statue of Heracles from Rheneia in the museum. This invaluable statue was found in 1899 inside a safe heaven of Heracles. The brave man is represented bare and holds a club and a lion skin in his left hand. This beautiful statue is made of the finest variety of parian marble and is supposed to belong to the 2nd century.
