Petros the Pelican, Mykonos
Petros the Pelican in Mykono had been the official mascot of the island of Mykonos for many many years.The Petros Pelican is a white pelican. It is said that a fisherman found an injured pelican in 1954 after a storm. It had migrated to the island. He treated to its wounds and nursed it with lots of love and acre. The pelican recovered and stayed back in the island and made the alien island its home. The locals fed the bird and called it Petros. In course of time Petros the Pelican, Mykonos became the mascot of Mykonos. Howevrer it died after 30 years in 1984. Presently, the Mykonos town is home to three new pelicans who can been seen wading the waters of the sea surrounding the island . The people of the town have named one of the pelicans as Petros in remembrance of their beloved Petros the Pelican ,Mykono

The Archaeological Museum is located close to the quay. The museum was founded in in the year 1902 . it served as a treasure trove of the Purification Pit finds which date back to 426 BC. The Purification Pit artifacts and antiquities were found in 1898 in the Rhenia Island or the Delos' necropolis. The attractions of the museum are funerary statutes, pottery items, jewelery and figurines belonging to the ancient times.
