Kouros of Flerio-Melanes, Naxos is thronged by a considerable amount of tourists every year.

Just above the plush gardens of Kouros Paradise is situated the little Kouros. Tourists can also notice here a small yet pleasant coffee corner. About hundred meters before the Paradise Gardens, a narrow yet well-paved path runs till the statue. In Greece, the Kouros were popularly referred to as Ellinas, which was developed in the seventh century B.C. The unusual yet marvelous statue features about a length of 64 meters. One can notice that the left foot of the statue is absent. Not only this, even a portion of the right leg of the Kouros of Flerio-Melanes, Naxos is missing.

The statue was built to showcase God Apollo. This is further proved by the long hair of the statue. It is believed that during the ancient days, the men except God Apollo were not permitted to keep long hair. The Kouros of Flerio-Melanes in Naxos is actually an unfinished structure which is made of marble. Dated from the first half of the sixth century BC., it was left incomplete due to a crevice in the material used for building the statue. However, the carving of this amazing statue is indicative of the magnificent Greek art and sculpture.

The land where this statue is located belongs to the Kondili-family. A visit to the site of this statue will also lead the tourists to tour the gardens of this family. This garden is well-kept and offers a sitting area featuring a stone table under an olive tree. It is here where tourists can rest a while with a glass of Naxos wine.
