The older exhibits in the museum are fine examples of Byzantine art and the works of Panagiotis Doxaras who studied in Venice, are of naturalistic style and belong to the Ionian Island School. The museum also contains works of Nicholaos Koutouzis and Nicholas, son of Doxaras and they both continued in the Western tradition.
