Ilhas de Orango National Park, Guinea Bissau has been centered in the west of Bubaque. This important conservation center and a major tourist destination encompass a combined area of 27,000 hectares of land. The village of Eticoga which lies on the west coast is the key entry point to the Ilhas de Orango National Park, Guinea Bissau. The important islands on which the park is based include Orango, Canogo, Imbone, Meneque and Orangozinho.

The boundary of the park covers the offshore area of 10 kilometers and includes forest, coastal wooded savanna, mangroves, channels and shallow seas. The mangroves cover an area of 17,400 hectares of land.

The vegetation found in Ilhas de Orango National Park consists mainly of palm groves and light woodland. The park also offers significant areas of mangroves and mud flats which are exposed at low tide. The popular inhabitants of Ilhas de Orango National Park include rare saltwater species of hippo and crocodile. These animals make a delightful watch to the visitors and you can even take some pictures of the animals, sheltered in the Park.

Tourists can also come across a wide variety of birds for which the park is famed. One most significant aspect of the Ilhas de Orango National Park is that it shelters some of the wonderful and largest nestling sites on the West African coast. At these nestling sites, you can see a large accumulation of green and Ridley turtles. These rare turtles land on the shore from the sea, crawl on the beach and lay eggs. You will get to see a large number of eggs dotting on the sand.
