It accommodates a separate area of savanna forest, which is expanded over an area of 26,000 hectares. The Lagoa de Cufada, Guinea Bissau accommodates a permanent but shallow fresh water lake in the flood plain of Rio Coruba. It is expanded over an area of 413.5 hectares of land. Besides, it also has 2 other smaller fresh water lakes which include Lagoa de Bionra, expanding over an area of 32.5 hectares of land and Lagoa de Bedasse, expanding over an area of 18.7 hectares of land. Both of these are permanent lakes.
Lagoa de Cufada in Guinea Bissau has a reputation of been a wetland of international importance. It has a surface area of around 39,098 hectares of land. The park is popular for its large, permanent, freshwater lake with abundance of aquatic vegetation and river floodplain. The park shelters many small villages scattered all around it. The small numbers of people who live within the site thrive on traditional fishing and rice production. Some of the sites in the Lagoa de Cufada in Guinea Bissau also accommodate crocodiles and hippopotamus.
The outer fringes of the park grow banana and cashew nuts. To facilitate hunting and rice production, large expanses of vegetation are burned and destroyed every year.
