Chinese New Year is also known as the Spring Festival and the Lunar New Year. People visit the region specially to witness the New Year celebrations. According to tourism ministry maximum number of people visit the region during the Chinese New Year. Fragrant flower markets and awaited night parade, exciting fireworks display, and many other events are highlight of this Hong Kong Festival and event.
Dragon Boat Festival is a team paddling sport. The boaters are required to carry a large drum. This Hong Kong festival and event is held to commemorate the death of Qu Yuan. Numerous boats compete for the first spot. The crew has a pair of 20 paddlers, one drummer or caller and one steerer or tiller.
Hong Kong International Races features four races namely Hong Kong Cup, Hong Kong Mile, Hong Kong Vase and Hong Kong Sprint. This annual event is held in mid-December. The Hong Kong event is organized by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and the permanent venue of Hong Kong International Races is the Sha Tin Racecourse.
