The Airport in Budapest is the Budapest Ferihegy International Airport. Is airport is the largest of the five international airports and it serves the capital city. This Airport in Budapest offers connections mainly within Europe but also to Asian countries, the Middle East and North America.

The Budapest Ferihegy International Airport is situated 16 km east southeast from the center of Budapest. It is accessible by the major transport artery of Ulloi ut. The airport can accept Boeing 747 and Antonov An-124 airplanes. The airport is served by the Airbus and Boeing twin jets, flying from other European cities. There are some long haul aircrafts like Boeing 767s.

The Budapest Ferihegy International Airport was formerly inaugurated on May 7, 1950. The Airport in Budapest has many terminals. These are 1, 2A and 2b. There is a smaller one for the general aviation traffic. One can move between 2A and 2B on foot. The older Terminal is situated further away and one has to go there by bus. At Terminal 2, there is an open air viewing platform.

Terminal 1 is served by low cost airlines. Renovated in September 2005, the freight functions of the airport will be shifted to another newly built cargo base. Terminal 1 is served by easyJet, Germanwings, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Ryanair, Astetrling Airlines and Wizz Air. Terminal 2A serves Aer Llngus, Brussels airlines, Carpatair, Czech Airlines, Malev Hungarian Airlines and Moldavian Airlines.

Terminal 2B serves all of the international flights and airlines which are not served by Terminal 2A. The airlines serving Terminal 2B are Air Berlin, Air Europa, Air France, Air Malta, Aeroflot, Aerosvit, Alitalia, Australian Airlines, British Airways, Caspian Airlines, Clickair, Delta Air Lines, Egypt Air, EL Al, Finair, Hainan Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Meridiana, Rossiya, Royal Jordanian, Scandinavian Airlines System and Swiss International Air Lines.

The Cargo Airlines serving the Airport in Budapest are ABC-Air Hungary, Cargolux, European Air Transport (DHL), Farnair Hungary, FedEx, Lviv Airlines, TNT Airways, TNT Airways and UPS. There are rail connection between terminal 1 and the Nyugati Railway Station of Budapest. All slow trains along the Budapest-Cegled-Szolnok route stops at this station. The departure time is approximately 30minutes interval. The journey takes around 25 minutes.

Bus services are also available to reach the Airport in Budapest. An articulated bus no. 200, which is a mass transit, leaves for the city center at an interval of 20 minutes. There are Volo buses which have special rooms for luggage and these buses reach Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Also, taxis are available from the taxi stand.
