The Deri Museum, Debrecen is one of the mots frequently visited tourist attractions in Debrecen. The Deri Museum has derived its name from Frigyes Deri, the rich industrialist and his art collects is what you will get to see in the museum. The biggest collection of the Deri Museum in Debrecen is the 'trilogy' by the famed Mihaly Munkacsy. The 3 pictures which you can see are the Ecce Homo, Golgotha and Christ before Pilate. Though this is the chief attraction, there are other permanent exhibitions which attract the global audience.

The permanent exhibitions at the Deri Museum are- The art of Mihály Munkácsy, the history of Debrecen dating from the 13th century down to 1945. Besides, these there are other collections which have been brought down from various regions of Europe like the Birds of our region and the The World of Minerals and an archaeological exhibition. The lovers of art can also have a look at the finds from Egypt which includes sarcophagi and mummies and the 4 bronze figures which stand in the museum courtyard reflecting the skills of the famous Debrecen sculptor Ferenc Medgyssy. These figures represent the 4 sections of the museum's collection namely art, archeology, history and ethnography. The skills of the sculptor receives worldwide recognition when he received the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Paris in the year 1937. you can aslo see collections from the countries of Italy and Greece along with a collection of the native folk-art which comprises decorated earthenware, shepherd's cloak from Hortobagy and porcelain vessels.

The Deri Museum, Debrecen remains open from 10 o'clock in the morning till 6 o'clock in the evening from 1st of April to 31st of October from Tuesday till Sundays. The museum remains open from 10 o' clock in the morning till 40'clock in the evening from 1st of November till 31st of March.
