Ranked among the tourist attractions in Debrecen the Small Reformed Church, Debrecen is visited by thousands of holidayers every year. The Small Reformed Church, Debrecen features the essential features of Baroque architecture and was built in 1726. Records show that it was in 1870 that parts of the Small Reformed Church were refurbished and it was again in 1907 that the western tower of the Small Reformed Church in Debrecen was renovated.

The first dome was destroyed in a fatal storm and it was only in 1907 that the whole thing structure got a new dome and portions of the structure were completely refurbished. As the Small Reformed Church, Debrecen has undergone s many changes, now it takes a complete new look and because of the fortification it was lovingly called as the “Stumpy Church”. A little away from the church one can see the Old Post Inn. It was here that in the olden days that the old postmaster used to stay. This place is famous all over Hungary when Charles XII, the Swedish king came here to stay for a night.

This event took place when the king was escaping from the Russian attacks. Apart from the Old Post Inn one can also see the Csokonai Theatre which is a little away from Small Reformed Church, Debrecen. This theatre is part of those glorious days when theatre in Hungary has reached its pinnacle point. The other striking feature of this place is that you have a grand church which has Neo-Gothic architecture. You can also take a look at the very beautiful St Anne Church which boasts of a Baroque architecture. It is known as the brainchild of the famous architect Giovanni Battista Carlone. Previously this church was part of the Piarist Convent but later the Catholics took charge of this church.

The Small Reformed Church, Debrecen boasts of a number of bishops who have taken good care of the church all these years and now it has a number of curators. These curators take good care of the relics and artefacts of the Small Reformed Church, Debrecen. Apart from the religious connotation the church will take you to the memory lane and you can actually travel through the pages of history while visiting this very beautiful church.
