The Andaman & Nicobar Islands in India are huge group of islands, which consists of nearly 600 islands. They are located in the Bay of Bengal. Though this island group is geographically a part of India, but it is closer to Thailand and Myanmar as compared to the mainland of India. They are grouped with the Southern part of India. The Nicobar Islands were very badly affected by the Tsunami which hit the area in the year 2004. Andaman escaped the tsunami with certain bruises. Many of the sites in Andaman & Nicobar Islands have been badly damaged by the Tsunami and at present cannot be visited. The main island is divided into three sections, North Andaman, South Andaman and Middle Andaman. Port Blair is situated in the South Andaman. There are many tribal people who live in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and they have no contacts with the rest of the world. Out of the 600 islands located here, only 9 can be accessed by the foreign tourists. All these 9 islands are located in the Andaman. The main cities of this place are Port Blair, Diglipur, Rangat. Other attractions in Andaman & Nicobar Islands include Havelock Island, Little Andaman, Long Island, Barren Island, Neil Island, Wandoor, Jarwa Reserve.

The tourists can reach the island by boarding flights or by sea. Regular flights are available and the plenty of airlines serve the airport in Port Blair. The foreign travelers need a permit to visit the islands. The ferries are the only mode of transport for getting to the neighboring islands. Auto-rickshaws are available in Port of Blair and Havelock Island. Motorcycles and bicycles are also available on rent. When the visitors are in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, they must try out scuba diving, surfing and other adventure sports. The National Park at Wandoor is a must visit place, which is just 29 kilometers from Port Blair. There are good restaurants where the visitors will get awesome seafood. Fresh coconuts are very renowned in these islands. Very good alcohol and other drinks are also available in some of the restaurants of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The days spent here will definitely turn out to be a memorable one.
