The holy city of Mathura is also popular for its religious centers. Allahabad, famous for the Triveni Sangam, features the confluence of three holy rivers of India, the Ganga, Yamuna and the Saraswati. Other places worth visiting are Allahabad Fort, Patalpuri Temple, Ashoka Pillar and Akshaya Vat.
Uttar Pradesh in India also has places associated with Buddhism. In Sarnath, you would find Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa and Mulagandhi Kuti Vihar. Kushinagar, which is the last resting place of Buddha, is another place of interest in Uttar Pradesh.
