The Ratu Baka Temple, Java is one of the finest temples in Indonesia. The site of the Ratu Baka Temple, Java is visited by tourists in large numbers from different parts of the world every year.
Perched atop a hill, the Ratu Baka Temple, Java is situated south of Prambanan Temple in Bokohardjo District in Java. In the year 1790, the ancient remains in Ratu Baka high plains were found by Van Boeckhots. These plains were formerly the homestead of a King. Detailed investigation carried out later revealed the presence of two stone-platform edifices called Batur Bale and Batur Pringgitan. These stone buildings were bordered by stonewalls. Foreign ceramic fragments, local earthen-ware and white stones were used to construct this grand temple. In the year 1954, the two main entrance gates and the Batur Bale were restored.

The Ratu Baka Temple in Java had a main gate at the western side. Its front verandah, consisting three terraces, is tilted towards east. Some 3.5-meter high walls, made of andecite stones, separate these three terraces. There was a 1.5 meter wide and 1.5 deep ditch along the wall segregating the second and the third terraces.
There was an open-space in front of the first terrace at the Ratu Baka Temple, Java. This first terrace was lower than the second. The third terrace being the highest, covered the largest area. The southern and eastern wall was built of white stones. The temple complex could be divided into three parts - the West, the Southwest and the Northeast buildings.
