Irian Jaya

Irian Jaya is a land of exceptional natural grandeur. The jungles of Irian Jaya are among the wildest, most impassable in the world. Everlasting snow capped mountain ridges more than 5,000 meters high, with walls plunge hundreds of meters down onto floors filled with little glacier lakes.

Irian Jaya has picturesque beaches in plenty as well as huge stretches of marshlands. Cool grassy fields lie at the foot of the high mountains. The rivers cut through dark forests until their slothful, crocodile diseased mouths expel the water into the sea.

Indonesia Information

Indonesia is the major archipelago in the world that is astride the Equator between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. While it shares its borders with Malaysia to the north as well as East Timor and Papua New Guinea to the east, it also has Australia to the south, Palau, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, and Thailand to the north, India to the northwest part.

Irian Jaya: Information

The division of Papua province was extremely contentious and is widely doubtful. The western portion that is the Bird's Head Peninsula and surrounding islands is now officially West Irian Jaya which is Irian Jaya Barat province. Though the status of this novel province is contested and remains legally unclear. A further division was made to create a third Central Irian Jaya province that was deserted due to angry opposition.

Irian Jaya until 2000 formally Irian Jaya and previously Netherlands New Guinea includes all parts of the island of New Guinea that belongs to Indonesia that is the independent nation of Papua New Guinea occupies the remainder, the eastern half and also includes 40 nearby islands. Even though Irian Jaya is well known for its Bird of Paradise, the fauna of the province is not chiefly rich. More or less all the animals here are of the Australian fauna type. Copper, oil, timber and sea products like fish and shrimps are among the province's main products.
