Situated along the waterfront area in the city, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol in Jakarta forms a constitutional part of the Ancol Bay City. It is actually a renowned resort area in Jakarta. Inaugurated in 1966, this region is at present the most fascinating tourist spot in Jakarta. The entire area features a theme park for recreation, luxurious hotels and an international sprawling golf course.
The theme park is named as Dunia Fantasi and it is classified into eight sections – Indonesia, Jakarta, Amerika, Europa, Asia, Yunani, Balada Kera and Hikayat. There are more than forty rides in the park. Tourists can try out some of the thrilling rides such as Niagara flume ride and Halilintar roller coaster ride. They must not miss out the interesting Balada Kera Theater show and the Rumah Boneka, which is a local adaptation of Disney’s “It’s a Small World”. The spinning cups ride, the swinging ship or the Kora-Kora, and the ferris wheel or Bianglala are the other notable attractions in the park.
The new rides introduced later include Perang Bintang, Power Surge, Tornado and Meteor Attack. Few of the attractions are open during specific seasons. To name them are Russian Circus, Euro Kids Circus and Le Belles Cabaret Show.
The Atlantis Water Adventure is the amazing water park which is constructed on the basis of the marine world of Atlantis. This park features a river pool, various slides, a wave pool, two pools for kids, a rainbow ball pool, a center for events, a court for volleyball and a food court.
The Sea courtyard or Gelanggang Samudra comprises exotic aquatic creatures including a Beluga whale. Tourists can also watch a bird show, an animal show, and shows featuring sea lions and dolphins. There is a 4D theater which is the largest of its kind in South East Asia.
The Ancol Golf Course features an area of 33 hectares and consists of 18 holes. Attached to the course are several restaurants, an executive room and a hall for meetings.
The SeaWorld comprises a tunnel, pools, a main pool, a pool for alligators and one for the sharks. There is a bowling center too named Jaya Bowling. The Festival and Carnival beaches are the two major beaches in this region. Tourists can purchase some local handicrafts items at Pasar Seni.
