This flag is referred to as Sang Saka Merah Putih and was made on Independence Day on August 17, 1945. The Freedom Hall portrays the nation’s fight for freedom through a series of images. The record of the actual Declaration of Independence and an audio of the speech given then, are showcased in the Hall of Contemplation.

Tourists can also reach the top of the National Monument, Jakarta by means of the elevator. There is an observation area from where they can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city. This is indeed a marvelous experience in itself. It is from here where the tourists can get views of the Istiqlal Mosque and Medan Merdeka Park. One will notice paved paths and plush well-maintained gardens in front of the National Monument or Monas. There is no entrance fee for entering the National Monument, Jakarta. However, tourists will have to pay some charge for the elevator. The monument is open on almost every day except for the last Monday of each month. The visiting hours are from 8:30 am in morning to 5 pm in evening.
