For this, you need to take the left fork at Cemoro Lawang's crossing, head down the ramp into the caldera and then across the caldera to the Hindu temple at the foot of the mountain. You will find a steep path of 250 steps from the temple leading to the edge of the crater. There is also a meter-wide ledge from where you can gaze into the volcano.
