Sheikh Sadi a native of Shiraz in Persia left his native town at a young age for Baghdad to study Arabic literature and Islamic sciences at Al-Nizamiyya of Baghdad.
Sheikh Sadi used to sit in remote teahouses late into the night and exchanged views with merchants, farmers, preachers, wayfarers, thieves, and Sufi mendicants and from them he derived his ideas to write. His most celebrated work till date is Bostan in 1257 and Gulistan in the year 1258.
After the death of Sheikh Sadi, the place where he was buried came to be known as Sadie Mausoleum, Shiraz and undoubtedly one of the popular tourist attractions.
