Golestan Palace



The location of Golestan Palace, Tehran is at the Arq Suquare. This palace is set in the city of Tehran in Iran. Golestan means a garden of flowers and so you can interpret it as the Palace of Flowers. This palace is among the oldest historic monuments present in this city. This palace consists a number of royal edifices that were once confined within the mud-thatched walls of this city's historic citadel.

The citadel was constructed during the rule of Tahmasb I. This ruler belonged to the Safavid dynasty. This palace was subsequently refurbished by Karim Khan Zand. Agha Mohamd Khan Qajar was one of the rulers of Iran who chose this city as his seat of power. This palace became the official abode of the royal family. Today, the Golestan Palace is around four hundred years old. What it looks today is due to the continuous construction and renovations done through generations. The Golestan Palace in Tehran is now among the famous Tourist Attractions in Tehran.

The Golestan Palace, Tehran has a rich collection. It has several buildings and rare artifacts which are worth viewing. The palace has a magnificent marble throne, a mirror hall, fine china ware and ceramics and a warehouse. One of the structures of this palace include the Shams-ol-Emaneh. This palace also has a dining hall, Talar Almas [which means Hall of Diamonds], Kakh-e-Abayaz and many more. The Talar Almas is known for its rich mirror work. Kakh-e-Abayaz which was once a display building in this Palace, is now a museum.

Whatever you buy here, a portion of that money will be used in the educational and research drives by the museum.
