National Museum of Iran in Tehran is a historical as well as archaeological museum. It was open to the public in 1937. The museum is a treasure trove of ancient Persian antiques that comprise metal objects, pottery vessels, coins and books.

The National Museum of Iran, Tehran encloses 2 buildings- the first building houses artifacts of the pre-Islamic period. While the second building houses antiquities dating to post-Islamic period. The first building houses 3 halls which is home to historical artifacts belonging to the paleolithic age, chalcolithic age, neolithic age and the three Iron ages. The entrance to the first building is constructed in the form of Persia's Sassanid vaults. The second building is is built in the French style. The second building consists of 3 floors.
