Located in the Niavaran Village, the Sahebqraniyeh Palace, Tehran makes for a fascinating sightseeing experience. The Niavaran Village was the erstwhile summer retreat on the fringes of Tehran. It was a favorite retreat of the king and the governmental executives of the Qajar regime. Fath-`Ali-Shah Qajar initiated the construction of a small pavilion within the Niavaran village. Under the rule of Mohammad-Shah, the building comprised of a simple elevated terrace and two flanking rooms.

After Mohammad-Shah died, Nasser-ed-Din -Shah took up the responsibility of the Niavaran. He rebuilt the palace as his summer harem. As the reconstruction work was carried out, it came to be known as the Sahebqraniyeh Palace on the orders of Nasser-ed-Din-Shah, after the first thirty years of his rule.

The beautiful Niavaran Palace Complex is located in the northern part of Tehran in Iran. One of the attractive sightseeing spots, the Niavaran Palace Complex comprises of several buildings and a museum. The Sahebqraniyeh Palace, Tehran is also found within the complex from the time of Nasir al-Din Shah of the Qajar dynasty. The Niavaran Palace was the main dwelling place of the last Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and also the Imperial family until the Iranian Revolution.

Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar was the king of Shah of Persia and the son of Mohammad Shah Qajar.

The Niavaran Cultural - Historical Complex , situated to the north eastern part of Tehran (Shemiranat) was changed to a museum after the Islamic Revolution was carried out jointly with Sa’adabad Complex. The five museums comprising of the Sahebqraniyeh Palace, Tehran attracts tourists in droves. It also boasts of being home to several historic and cultural attractions. You should visit the Blue Hall, Private Cinema, Jahan Nama Gallery and Niavaran Garden in the Niavaran Cultural - Historical Complex.

The Sahebqraniyeh Palace, Tehran is an exquisitely designed palace depicting the Qajar’s love of comfort and pleasures of life. The palace comprises of two floors. Hose-Khaneh is one of the most beautiful rooms on the ground floor. It was redesigned and refurbished by the Empress during the 70’s. It has magnificent stucco carvings and superb sash windows. A famous painting by Kamal-ol-Molk can be found in the same room.

The hall of Jahannama is on the first floor. Gaze at the mirror made up of hundreds of small and long rectangular shape mirrors pieces.
