Iraq is a country of Middle East covering most of the northwestern area of the Zagros mountain range. The summer months are mainly differentiated by two types of wind phenomena. They are the southern and southeasterly sharqi. Sharqi is actually a dry, dusty wind including some breezes to eighty kilometers an hour. It mainly takes place from April to early June and from September to November. You can also see another kind of wind called shamal. It is a steady wind from north and northwest, which occurs from mid-June to mid-September. Dust storms come with these winds and arise to the height of numerous thousand meters, making harmful flying conditions.

Weather in Iraq is almost alike to that of the acute southwestern United States including dry and hot summers, chilled winters and a nice spring and fall. In the west and south desert area, the climate is tailored by hot summers and cool winters. This region also sees a brief vicious rainstorm at winter that frequently measures 10 centimeters also. The nights remain clear on most of the days in the summer. Sometimes one third of the nights remain cloudy in the winter.

In the rolling highlands, there is mainly no precipitation in the summer. But, rainfall mainly occurs in the winter. The winter precipitation usually averages more than 38 centimeters. The alluvial plain of Tigris and Euphrates Delta, rainfall is mainly followed by thunderstorms at the winter and spring. The standard yearly rain in this region is approximately 10 to 17 centimeters.
