St. Canice's Cathedral

The St. Canice's Cathedral is the second longest cathedral in the whole of Ireland. The cathedral has been the site of Christian worship from the 6th century. Built in the early Gothic style, the church is built with limestones. The cathedral is endowed with stained glass windows and there are the East window, which resembles the original 13th century window. The cathedral has many monuments that can only be seen here in the whole Ireland.

The Cathedral has monuments from different strata of the society. One can see figures of the Ormonde house as well as the humble shoemaker and carpenter. Capuchin Friary

The Capuchin Friary was constructed in 1847, though the Capuchin was present in Kilkenny since 1699.There is a notable painting of Christ by the famous Italian painter Guardachini at the altar piece. The Friary has the Confession service, the only of its kind in Kilkenny. You can ring the bell at the front door and you can see a friar dutifully coming from the living quarters and listen to all your sins.

Kilkenny Methodist Church

The Kilkenny Methodist Church is situated at an end of William Street. It was built in 1836. A Sunday service is held at 12 noon. Before going to the church, it is advisable to check whether it is open. A modern tourist hostel is present in the ground floor of the Church.
