History

In 1709 many people fled from Palatine district situated in Upper Rhineland in Germany and settled in Ireland. Their settlements were centered around the Rathkeale region in the County of Limerick. These people belonged to the Calvinist and Lutheran faiths. They fled from Germany due to bad harvests and religious oppression.
