While on your Excursions from Wexford, visit the Morriscastle beach. The beach stretches for unbroken miles bounded by the sheltering dunes. With deep sandy interiors the dunes provide refuge from all weathers. They invariably give limitless fun and exploration to children and adults alike. In the far end of the beach, the dunes have formed sand valleys. These valleys are covered with wildflowers and also bear a beautiful pastel tinted shell pattern. An area of the dunes is host to a very rare orchid. This makes it a National Heritage Area. The solitude of the area is occasionally broken by the chirps and flutters of Larks, stonechats and curlews. The chattering of the birds together with the pungent smell of Ladies Bed Straw and other wildflowers make this a much desired place to be in. It is certainly a place to walk and explore.

Oystercatchers, Turnstones and Dunlins forage on the beach. A remote part of the beach is one of 3 sites in Europe where the little tern nests in summer. It breeds here after flying all the way from Sierre Leone to lay her eggs. One can more often than not spot seals are swimming. At times one can even sight porpoises.

The beach is safe for bathing. During summer lifeguard is available. At certain tides the sea forms small lagoons. The waters in the lagoon becomes almost lukewarm and creates a wonderful bathing and play area. Bass Cod and Whiting can be caught in plenty here. Excursion from Wexford also includes a visit to the Village of Kilmuckridge. It is a busy rural village with shops and supermarkets. This village has many lively pubs which offer organize pub theaters to traditional Irish music, discos and family based events. There are several local ethnic restaurants as well to enjoy the local food. The neighboring towns of Wexford Enniscorthy and Gorey are also worth being visited during an excursion.
