Ein Hod, Haifa is an artists’ village which was founded in 1953 by Marcel Janco, a Dada artist along with a group of local artists. Nestled in the heart of the Holf Carmel region, the Ein Hod, Haifa glides down the slope of Mount Carmel.
The cultural and diversified artistic setting is home to 150 artists and their families. The members of the Ein Hod in Haifa include winners of the prestigious Israel National Award who live along with world renowned architects and designers.
The picturesque complex of Ein Hod, Haifa features the Ein Hod Central Art Gallery. One of the oldest and integral parts of the Artists Village, the Gallery displays works of various local and world famous artists and craftsmen. Janco Dada Museum is also included in the premises of Ein Hod. Built in 1983, the museum, as the name suggests, is dedicated to the founder of the Village. One of the newest parts of the Ein Hod in Haifa is the ‘yad Gertrude’ or Gertrude Krause House which was donated by Gertrude Krause, a dancer who was originally a member of the village. This new section of the Village serves as an archival section which showcases the works of the past and present artists. It also features a list of members of Ein Hod, Haifa. The Gertrude Krause House sponsors biweekly music concerts and guest lectures on various interesting topics related to world renowned artists and their works. During the summer months, popular musical performances and light entertainment programs are held in the onsite outdoor amphitheatre.
