The remains of the boat, buried in mud near the edge of the lake, were revealed in 1986 after a long period of drought that led to a sharp fall in the water level. The boat is 8.20 meters or 27 feet long and its breadth is 2.30 meters or 7.5 feet wide.
It is believed to be dated between 70 BC and AD 90 and was used for fishing just off the shores of the lake. Tourists will get to see this historical boat that is in display in the Yigal Allon Museum in Ginnosar in Tiberias. In order to preserve it from getting damaged by the water, the wood is being replaced by wax.
In addition, you can even view a cave in the Amud valley, near the Ginnosar, Tiberias that include the skull of Galilee Man, who lived about 100,000 years ago, was found in the year 1925. The Jesus Boat is attractively displayed with informative signs in English. The boat is made of 12 different types of wood and weighs quite heavy.
