Greek Orthodox Monastery, Tiberias is a small, red-domed Greek Orthodox Church of the Seven Apostles. The site of the monastery is where the village of Capernaum was relocated after the earthquake in 746. The church is dedicated to the seven apostles namely Simon called Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples as referred to in the Gospel of John when Jesus reappears before his disciples by the Sea of Tiberias. An ancient fishing boat built sometime in the 1st Century BC was discovered in 1986. The 8 meters long boat was found to contain various implements, including an oil lamp and a cooking pot. Popularly known as the Jesus boat, it has been carefully preserved and is now on display at nearby Kibbutz Ginosar.
