The Lake Albano, Italy is one of the most beautiful lakes. It is primarily a crater lake located on the Alban Hills. Alban Hills is mainly an area of extinct volcanoes. Lake Albano, Italy is an ideal destination for a holiday.

The lake is oval in shape and is 961 feet above sea level. Lake Albano in Italy is formed by the fusion of two volcanic craters. The total area covered by the lake is 5 square kilometers while it has a depth of 558 feet. Lake Albano, Italy receives water from underground water sources. An artificial outlet drains the water out from the lake. It is assumed that the outlet was built in 398 - 397 BC. It is believed that in the past the lake often overflowed the banks of its crater. Albano Laziale and Castel Gandolfo are the two main resorts of this region. The lake is presently a favored tourist site. Great numbers of travelers come to this place especially during the summers. Castel Gandolfo located on the southern end of the lake is the visited by Pope during the summers. It is his summer residence. It also houses the famous Vatican Observatory. While Albano Laziale is located on the base of Castel Gandolfo, Marino is positioned on top of it. The lake has a beach on its western side.
