The city of Bologna is in northern Italy. Like the other big major cities of Italy, Bologna too is blessed with many, superb architectural structures. On your Bologna tours, please do visit one of the best, namely the Bevilacqua Palace. Located on Nos. 31 to 33 of the Via d'Azeglio, the Bevilacqua Palace was earlier also known as the Palazzo Sanuti. The Early Renaissance period represented the art that flourished between the Middle ages and the Renaissance period. Italy led in the Early Renaissance form, followed by Flanders in northern Europe.
The Bevilacqua family was an illustrious Italian family with origins traced back to the twelfth century. The Bevilacqua Palace was constructed from 1474 to 1482. The Bevilacqua Palace was executed in the style known as the Early Renaissance. Like many of the palaces in Florence, the Bevilacqua Palace has a fine gateway, grand facade and narrowing interior courtyards. The raised relief facade has double windows and doors with sculptures. The rail is in wrought iron. The courtyard in the interior has small open galleries superimposed in two tiers. The open sided, roofed galleries i.e. the loggia, is in wrought iron.
Stone-cutters and masons from Tuscany built the Bevilacqua Palace. Tommaso Filippi carved the columns in stone in the two open galleries. In 1531, the interiors were renovated by Galeazzo Alessi. Donato Bramante too was involved in the modifications in the palace at some stage.
Lot of historical decisions were taken in the galleries by the Trent council. On your Bologna travel, please do visit the Bevilacqua Palace.
