Museo Chiossone,is the only museum in Genoa which is built in memory of the famous Italian painter Edoardo Chiossone. This Genoese celebrity had been prolific throughout his artistic career. The history of the Museum dates back to 1898. this famous museum of Italy was inaugurated by. King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy on the 30th October 1905. In 1948 Genoa Council proposed to build a suitable building to ensure the safety of these precious arts. In order to give a proper recognition and shelter the Museo Chiossone came to be known as the first public museum in Italy . An important feature of the museum is that it is built in the post-war period and it was also being financed by the public authority.
This fabulous building was built under the vigilant guidance of the architect Mario Laḅ. It took a long time to build this masterpiece. The tourists are impressed to see the Museum's location inside the Villetta Di Negro park. The museum is located in the green hilly garden which is close to the 19th century Piazza Corvetto. The Third and the Fourth Gallery has a good collection of like paintings on silk and paper, polychrome woodblock prints, textiles ,etc. The Fifth Gallery of Museo Chiossone displays twelve complete suits full of armor to the visitors. These war equipments are well preserved in six large glass cases jointed by wooden mannequins. With so much to know and many more to see, the visitors will have a filling time enriching themselves about the city.
