Amman is the capital of Jordan. The city boasts of some of the most unique tourist attractions in Amman. There are great opportunities for adventure and sightseeing in Amman. Roman Theater: Amman bears resemblance with Rome, as this city is also situated on the seven hills like Rome. There is a Roman Forum in the city. The Roman Theater stands behind it. It is the largest theater in Jordan, which can accommodate about 6000 people. It was built by the Roman emperor Antonininus Pius. It is still used for sports and cultural performances.

Citadel: The Citadel hill of Amman is also known as the Jabal el Qala. This is a military and religious spot dating back to the Roman and the Byzantian era. Excavations of this area has revealed testimonies to the Bronze Age. The famous Temple of Herakles (Hercules) is located here. The citadel is located at the bottom of the four hills out of the seven Amman constitutes. It is one of the best tourist attractions in Amman the tour should be started with.

Temple of Herakles: This great temple of Herakles (Hercules) is located in the Citadel of Amman. The temple dates back to AD 166. It is so massive in its stature that it seems to be much bigger than in Rome itself. Part of the temple had been excavated underneath the ground and it is said that somehow the temple had been left unfinished. It is also known as the Great Temple of Amman.

Ummayad Palace: This is a palace situated in the northern part of the upper level of the Citadel or Jabal-al Qala. It is also known as the Ummayad Qusr and said to have served as the administrative center from 720 to 750 AD. There is a hall, four vaulted assembly rooms, colonnaded road, palace bath, mosque and cistern. It was built during the reign of Umayyad caliph Hisham. This is one of the Tourist Atttractions in Amman, which is a must see.
