There are a number of tourist attractions in Jerash. Some of the most popular tourist attractions in Jerash are Hadrian's Arch, Hippodrome, Oval Plaza, Cathedral, Nymphaeum, North and South Theatre and the Jerash Archaeological Museum.

Hadrian's Arch:

The Hadrian arch in Jerash is one the top choices among travelers. Built in 129 AD, Hadrian arch commemorates the victory of Emperor Hadrian. The triumphal arch also serves as the southern gateway to Jerash. Hadrian arch. It epitomizes Greco- Roman architecture.

Hippodrome:

Hippodrome is another famous historical relict in Jerash. It is actually a large arena that was used for gladiator fights. Hippodrome was also used as a platform where the roman charioteers could make their public appearance and address the people. Hippodrome was about 245 meters long and 52 meters wide, with an accommodation capacity of 15,000 people. The estimated date of construction for it was sometime between middle of second century to early third century AD. A must see for all tourists in Jerash.

Oval Plaza:

The Oval Plaza of Jerash was used as a place for holding parties and celebrations. This famous plaza of Jerash is around 90 meters long and 80 meters wide. It has a sidewalk and also a column structure that dates back to the first century AD. You will also find a beautiful fountain in the oval plaza. It was erected in the 7th century AD. Currenetly, the fountain serves as a support base for holding the central column carrying the famous Jerash Festival Flame.

Cathedral:

The cathedral in Jerash is a beautiful piece of art in Jerash. It was earlier known as the Roman Temple of Dionysus. Situated on the Cardo Maximus, the temple was reconstructed as a Byzantine church. The cathedral is a masterpiece of 4th century architecture. Towards the east wall of the cathedral, you will find the shrine of St. Mary, which shows a painted inscription of mother Mary along with the archangels Gabriel and Michael.

Nymphaeum:

Nymphaeum is the famous fountain of Jerash. It was built in 191 AD. The fountain is another example of roman art and architecture. Nymphaeum has marble facings towards the lower levels and has a half dome roof. The fountain also has a water cascade in the form of seven lion heads cut into water basins. Light falling on the flowing cascade lends a brilliant effect to the fountain; perhaps, more beautiful than the Nymphs, to whom Nymphaeum is dedicated.
