All funds brought up by this event are gifted to Rhino Ark. Rhino Ark is a Kenyan charity placed to help the protected Aberdare Conservation area. The night before Rhino Charge, Kenya starts, the teams are provided maps of the region. They are not permitted to explore the landscape in advance. In the morning, these competitors are taken to their starting positions and given the signal. The main aims of these participants are to visit all these twelve checkpoints and come back to the rally headquarters before the end of the day covering the shortest distance possible.
The shortest route linking all the checkpoints covered is almost 45 kilometers. The checkpoints are mainly selected in order to provide hard times for the teams.
