Kenya Food The cultural diversity of Kenya is also reflected through its food and cuisine. Kenya Food consists of traditional African dishes, tribal delicacies, Arabian and European delicacies. One can pay a visit to the numerous hotels and restaurants of the country and try out the delicious Kenyan delicacies.

The staple food of the people of the country consists of rice, bread, chapati and vegetables. Ugali is the national dish of the country. It is basically a cornmeal porridge. Potatoes are eaten in plenty over here and form the main ingredient in most of the dishes. Beef, chicken, goat and fish also forms part of the diet of the people of the country. Rice and vegetables are eaten with beef, chicken of fish preparations. Vegetable curry is extremely popular amongst the people of the country.

The country is known for its different types and meat and poultry preparations. A very popular preparation of is Chicken Tika. One can also try out Mtuza Wa Samaki. It is fish preparation, where the fish is baked and then cooked into a curry. Then there is Kuku Na Nazi. This is a chicken preparation made with coconut milk. As far as vegetable preparations are concerned, one can try out Maharagwe.

It is a spicy red bean preparation made with coconut milk. During the festive seasons, one can try out Pilau rice with beef stew. This is one of the most favorite dishes of the people of the country. Another popular vegetarian dish is Sukuma Wiki or Collard greens.

The people include a lot of salads and fresh fruits in their meals. Fruit and vegetable salads forms part of every meal of the country. One can try out Avocado and Papaya salad. In the agricultural regions roasted corn is extremely common. One can also try out the different varieties of snacks found in the country, which include Mandaazi, a sweet deep fried dough cake, and egg-bread, a wheat flour pancake wrapped around fried eggs and minced meat.

Apart from these, one can try out the barbecue and steaks, which are prepared by the different restaurants of the country. One can get to taste the delicacies served in the hotels and restaurants in Mombasa, Lamu, Nairobi and other cities of the country.

Kenya Food is as diverse as its culture. The preparations are extremely delicious and worth trying. One can embark on a whole new gourmet experience by trying out the food of Kenya.
