He Arch of Marcus Aurelius which is the only Roman monument still surviving in the city is located just outside the Gurgi Mosque. The Jamahiriya Museum which is the national museum of Libya is situated in the premises of the Red Castle and houses some of the most important documents of the Greek and Roman periods. The treasures from Sabratha and the Leptis Magna which are considered as important World Heritage Sites can also be found inside the Museum. The Volkswagen Beele Car which was driven by Gadaffi during the years 1960s can be found inside the National Museum of Libya.
