The Thaba Boisu Mountain was once the stronghold of King Mashoueshoue in the 18th century. The shape of the mountain is used to get the shape of the hat that are used by the local people. Another interesting place to visit is the Dinosaur Tracks which are seen to the north of Leribe on the Butha-Butha. The road from Leribe to Maputsoe or Fickburg Bridge border post provides some picturesque view of the blossoming fields during Summer time. Another must-visit place is the fortifications of Major's Bell's Tower, that was built in 1870s. A statue of a European stands near the administrative office.
Shopping in Leribe include buying the Basotho Blanket and also visiting the Curio Shop. The Basotho Blanket has as high pure wool content, sometimes going up to 90 percent. This provides the much needed warmth of the body. The best part is that it can be worn in summer as well. Due to the presence of wool, rain water does not wet the body. It is also fire resistant. Other possibilities include buying the local pottery which are cheap and exotic.
