The country shares the record of being the only landlocked country bounded by other landlocked country, that is , a doubly landlocked country with Uzbekistan. Another unique point in the geography of Liechtenstein is that it is the majority German speaking country without having a border with the Federal Republic of Germany. It is the smallest German speaking nation and the sixth smallest independent nation in the world.

Liechtenstein is also known as the Principality of Liechtenstein and it is divided into 11 municipalities. These municipalities are individually called 'gemeinden', they are all single towns. Five municipalities come under the electoral of the Unterland district and the rest comes under the Oberland district.

The weather of Liechtenstein is mostly continental, cold. The winters are cloudy with frequent snow or rain fall. The summers are cool to moderately warm climate and sometimes cloudy.
