The first recorded history of sports in Liechtenstein dates back to the year 1789 when a shooting ordinance was passed. Among the other preserved documents a membership memo dating back to 1802 is also found. According to the records people of Liechtenstein were equally enthusiastic about other games like cycling, tennis, motor sports, gymnastics and the most important of the lot skiing.
