Shopping in Sikasso

Sikasso is the southern-most region of Mali and Shopping in Sikasso is a tempting affair. Sikasso is one of Mali's largest cities. The origins of Sikkasso was quite modest to begin with. It was in fact a small village before becoming the capital of the Kingdom of Kénédougou in the late 19th century. Today it constitutes a centre for cotton ginning and textile manufacturing. A road links Sikasso with Bamako, the national capital. Since there is proper connectivity with Bamako, Mali's capital city, it is quite convenient for tourists to travel around , therefore making Sikasso Shopping a unique and satisfying affair.Apart from the Places to shop in Sikasso, there are nature tours and Sikasso Vacations as the surrounding region is a mixture of lowland valleys in the central area and flat-topped sandstone.

Sikasso also has a capital city of the same name and is the 3rd-largest city which is growing rapidly due to people fleeing the violence in Côte d'Ivoire to the south of the country in Mali. Major ethnic groups in the city of Sikasso, include the Senoufo, known for masks and reverence for animals, the Samago, known for being Mali's best farmers, and the main ethnic group in Sikasso, the Bambara people. The local economy is based on farming and the city receives more rain than any other Malian region, is known for its fruits and vegetables.

Sikasso is roughly divided into 7 cercles and zones. These are Bougouni, Kolondieba, Kadiolo, Sikasso, Yanfolia and Yorosso. All of these cities are noted as the most beautiful and attractive Places to shop in Sikasso. Sikasso is a landlocked city therefore there is little access to beach fronts or even a coastline for adventure sports.Nevertheless it is quite popular among tourists for activities like shopping and the like. The zones in Sikasso like Bougouni, a junction town en route to the capitol of Mali; and Koutiala, in the northern Sikasso region, which is the hub of Mali's highly productive cotton industry, which produces one of the country's few exports

The city of Sikasso is known for a vibrant outdoor market which features fabrics, numerous vegetables and fruits (especially mangoes, for which Sikasso is particularly renowned.) Sikasso is an ethnic and linguistic melting pot featuring people from outlying villages, immigrants from Cote d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso and refugees. The southwest corner of the Sikasso region is traditionally known as Wassoulou. This area is known for its unique music and strong tradition of hunting. The main city of Wassoulou is Yanfolila.
